PRESS RELEASE

Lewisburg, W.Va., August 25, 2026 — The holiday season could be a little more festive in Lewisburg this year. The Coolest Small Town has been selected as a contender in Hallmark Channel’s search for the Merriest Christmas Town. Residents, visitors and fans of Lewisburg can cast their vote daily until Sept. 4to move to the next round.
Lewisburg is known for its small-town charm, vibrant community and cheerful holiday traditions. The locally owned shops coordinate the Magic of Christmas in Lewisburg. A season-long event that welcomes holiday shoppers with Christmas activities such as carriage rides, the annual tree lighting, parade and Santa’s Mailbox. Mayor Beverly White responds to all letters that have a return address. Since its inception in 2020, she has written 1,000 letters.
“The beauty of downtown makes you want to embrace Christmas even more,” said Mayor White. “The joy that you see on people’s faces during the season. Especially during the Christmas tree lighting. Last year, the snow started right as we finished, and people said, ‘Wow, this is a Hallmark picture,’ and that’s because we are.”
A win would shine a national spotlight on Lewisburg and the Greenbrier Valley while celebrating the businesses, residents, traditions and experiences that make the community a special place to spend the holiday season.
“Being in the running for Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town is an exciting opportunity to showcase the warmth and sense of community that make Lewisburg such a memorable place to visit. We hope everyone who loves Lewisburg will vote and help us spread the word,” said Kara D. Dense, president and CEO of Experience Greenbrier Valley.
