Hinton Area Foundation opens applications for two grant programs

HINTON, WV — The Hinton Area Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2026 Learning Innovation Mini-Grants and Making a Difference Grants. Both programs support creative ideas that strengthen Summers County.

“Some of the most meaningful change begins with a simple idea and someone willing to put that idea into action,” said Sheila Pillath, executive director of the Hinton Area Foundation. “These two grant programs allow us to invest directly in the teachers, volunteers and community members who see opportunities to make Summers County an even better place to learn, live and serve.”

The Learning Innovation Mini-Grants provide grants of up to $500 to Summers County Pre-K–12 classroom teachers. Proposed projects must be innovative, directly benefit students and include clear educational goals. Grant funds may not be used for salaries, stipends or staff awards.

“Our teachers have wonderfully creative ideas for making learning more meaningful, and these mini-grants help bring those ideas to life by providing experiences that might not otherwise be available in the classroom,” said Stacy Ford, chair of the Learning Innovation Grant Committee.

The Making a Difference Grants support projects that improve Summers County, encourage volunteerism, engage community members and create a lasting impact. Proposed activities should stimulate community involvement and contribute to sustainable improvements. Applications that include matching funds may receive priority.

“Making a Difference Grants harness the power of volunteerism to beautify Summers County and create improvements that residents can enjoy and take pride in for years to come,” said Regina Gwinn Eckle, chair of the Making a Difference Grant Committee.

The application deadline for both grant programs is October 1, 2026, and grant awards will be announced by October 31, 2026.

Applications are fully online this year. All application materials must be submitted through the Hinton Area Foundation’s online portal; paper applications will not be accepted. Program information and applications are available at hintonareafoundation.org/grants.
