Carnegie Hall presents The Mystical Arts of Tibet

Lewisburg, West Virginia – Carnegie Hall proudly launches its 2026–2027 Mainstage Performance Series with The Mystical Arts of Tibet: Sacred Music, Sacred Chants for Peace & Healing, an extraordinary program presented by the world‑renowned Drepung Loseling monks on Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m.

This immersive performance draws from ancient temple rituals once celebrated for days in Tibetan monastery courtyards, where villagers and nomadic tribes gathered to experience sacred music, dance, and spiritual ceremony. Robed in magnificent traditional garments and performing on authentic Tibetan instruments, the monks offer selections believed to generate energies conducive to world healing—ritual pieces designed to cultivate peace, clarity, and spiritual awareness for both participants and the wider community.

At the heart of the performance is the monks’ famed multiphonic chanting, known as zokkay, or “complete chord.” This extraordinary vocal technique—unique to Tibetan culture—allows each chantmaster to intone three notes simultaneously, creating a resonant harmonic structure that has captivated audiences around the world.

The Mystical Arts of Tibet tour preserves the essential integrity of these ancient ceremonial pieces while presenting them in a format accessible to contemporary audiences, maintaining the purpose, symbolism, and spiritual depth of each ritual. Endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a means of promoting global peace and healing through sacred performing arts, the Drepung Loseling monks have appeared in many of America’s most celebrated theaters and concert halls, earning international acclaim for their artistry and cultural stewardship.

As the first performance of the season, Sacred Music, Sacred Chants for Peace & Healing sets a powerful tone for Carnegie Hall’s year ahead—inviting audiences into a transformative experience rooted in centuries‑old tradition, profound musical skill, and a message of compassion that resonates across cultures.

Tickets are $45 for adults and $20 for students, offering the community an opportunity to encounter one of the world’s most remarkable spiritual art forms in an unforgettable evening of sound, ritual, and healing intention.
