Big Blue fend off Concord

Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men’s basketball utilized a strong performance at the free-throw line to secure the 83-77 victory over Concord. The Big Blue improve to 9-12 (7-3) on the season.
The contest was a tightly contested battle early, featuring five lead changes and five ties in the first half. The Big Blue used a 28-16 point in the paint advantage to take the 40-33 cushion into the half. The Big Blue maintained control in the second half, answering every Mountain Lion rally with a timely buckets and free-throw shooting to seal the win at home.
The Big Blue shot 36 free throws, connecting on 31 (86.1%). The Big Blue also controlled the glass, outrebounding the Mountain Lions 44-37, including 20 offensive boards that led to 20 second chance points.
Myles Pierre turned in a season high performance, leading all scorers with 30 points while adding six rebounds and two steals. Anthony Latty dominated the interior, securing the double-double, with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Ellija Preddy and Warren Mouganda each chipped in 11 points with Kyree Smith providing a spark off the bench with nine points and two blocks.
