LILBURN, Ga. – The Glenville State Women’s Basketball team will begin the 2026-27 campaign nationally ranked, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today. The Lady Pioneers enter the new season 17th in the country.

Defending national champion Grand Valley State comes in No. 1 after going (36-1) a year ago while national runner-up and in-region foe, Indiana (Pa.), is No. 4. GSU’s first opponent in less than 10 days, Gannon, went (29-5) and will open the new season ranked 12th nationally. The Lady Pioneers are the only MEC school ranked, as Fairmont State received 10 votes.

Glenville State is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Emily Stoller, who led GSU to a (24-7) finish in 2025-26 as well as a regular season Mountain East Conference championship and a berth into the NCAA Tournament. Stoller returns All-MEC First Team guard Carine Pinkney as well as former MEC Freshman of the Year Nwando Okigbo (11.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG) and key contributors Ashlyn Riley (11.4 PPG) and Wonder Nkoyock (9.1 PPG). With the core of last year’s squad returning and the addition of six transfers, the Lady Pioneers will start the season nationally ranked for the first time in three seasons.

GSU heads to Erie, Pa. to take on Gannon on November 13 inside the Highmark Events Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
