Carnegie Hall presents whimsical needle felting workshops with Meredith Young

PRESS RELEASE

Lewisburg, West Virginia – Carnegie Hall invites crafters, animal lovers, and aspiring fiber artists to discover the creative art of needle felting during a series of hands-on workshops led by instructor Meredith Young this November. Designed for beginners and experienced makers alike, these fun and approachable classes offer participants the opportunity to transform soft, wool fibers into charming handmade creations inspired by nature and beloved animal friends.

On Saturday, November 14, participants can join Felted Ornaments: Mushrooms! from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will learn the basics of needle felting while creating a whimsical mushroom ornament. Participants can choose their own colors, add creative details, and take home a unique woodland-inspired treasure perfect for decorating or gifting.

Later that day, from 1 to 3 p.m., Felted Ornaments: Hedgehogs! invites participants to sculpt an adorable three-dimensional hedgehog from soft wool. Through simple felting techniques, students will create their own fuzzy woodland friend while exploring texture, form, and personality in fiber art.

The felting fun continues Saturday, November 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Felted Photos: Lazy Cats! Participants will create a charming, framed needle-felted artwork featuring a reclining cat in the color of their choice. Using layers of soft, wool fibers and beginner-level felting techniques, students will design a whimsical scene complete with a custom background. This playful project is perfect for cat lovers and anyone interested in learning the art of needle felting.

All three workshops are open to participants ages 10 and older and are limited to 12 students per class, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of individual instruction. The cost for Felted Ornaments: Mushrooms! and Felted Ornaments: Hedgehogs! is $25 per person, while Felted Photos: Lazy Cats! is $35 per person.

These workshops are part of Carnegie Hall’s ongoing Classes & Workshops series, which provides engaging opportunities for community members of all ages to explore new artistic skills, connect with fellow makers, and experience the satisfaction of creating something by hand. Whether crafting a woodland mushroom, a charming hedgehog, or a purr-fectly relaxed feline companion, participants will leave with a one-of-a-kind handmade creation and a newfound appreciation for the art of needle felting.
