PRESS RELEASE

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announces funding to improve passenger and family travel experience

CHARLESTON, WV (May 18, 2026) West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW) announced today  that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded the airport $14,786,753 in discretionary grant  funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act – Airport Terminal Program (ATP). The award is  part of a nationwide $970 million investment supporting 133 airport projects across 45 states, focused on  modernizing airport infrastructure and improving the passenger experience.

The award will support CRW Next, the Airport’s phased terminal modernization project focused on replacing  aging infrastructure and improving the passenger experience. Planned improvements include an expanded  security checkpoint, upgraded passenger amenities, and ADA accessibility enhancements designed to  improve passenger flow and support future growth.

“This investment represents another major step forward for CRW Next and the future of air travel in our  region,” said Dominique Ranieri, Airport Director & CEO. “These improvements will help us better serve our  passengers while positioning the airport to support continued growth for years to come. We are grateful to  the FAA and our federal partners, including U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, U.S. Senator Jim Justice, and  U.S. Representative Carol Miller, for their continued support of infrastructure improvements in West Virginia.”

The Airport Terminal Program provides discretionary grant funding for terminal reconstruction and  improvement projects that enhance the passenger and family travel experience, improve accessibility and  energy efficiency, and modernize airport facilities nationwide.

West Virginia International Yeager Airport is WV’s largest commercial airport, serving four airlines with  nonstop service to several destinations. With more than 432,319 passengers in fiscal year 2025, an 8%  increase over 2024, and a $65–75 million terminal investment program underway, CRW is positioned for  continued growth in the years ahead.
