Vandalia Health CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center reaccredited for 3D and full-field digital mammography

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has reaccredited Vandalia Health CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for digital breast tomosynthesis (also known as 3D mammography) and full-field digital mammography.

3D mammography is an advanced imaging technique that creates detailed three-dimensional images of the breast to improve cancer detection, especially in dense breast tissue.

Full-field digital mammography is considered an advanced technique that improves the accuracy of breast cancer detection compared to conventional methods.

The ACR Committee on Mammography Accreditation of the Commission on Quality and Safety surveyed GVMC. The accreditation runs through Oct. 20, 2029.

“This accreditation means women in our area can be confident in the quality of our equipment, techniques and imaging staff to give them accurate results,” said Becky Harless, Chief Administrative Officer, CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. “Women can feel confident they are receiving care that adheres to nationally accepted best practices, close to home.”

Screening mammograms are one of the best tools for detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages.

You may be eligible for a screening on our mobile mammography unit if you:

• Are age 40 and older
• Have not had a mammogram in the last 365 days
• Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are not experiencing breast issues such as lumps, discharge or pain

The imaging department at CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center conducts mammography screenings Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 304-647-6505.
