West Virginia Municipal League honors municipal leaders and communities during 2026 annual conference

(Charleston, W.Va.) – The West Virginia Municipal League (WVML) recognized outstanding municipal leaders, communities, and innovative local government initiatives during the 2026 WVML Annual Conference in Charleston. The annual awards celebrate excellence in public service, recognize innovative projects, and honor individuals whose leadership continues to strengthen West Virginia’s cities, towns, and villages.   
“The West Virginia Municipal League Annual Awards recognize the innovation, dedication, and leadership taking place in communities of every size across our state,” said Susan Economou, Executive Director of the West Virginia Municipal League. “From transformative community projects to individual public servants whose commitment makes local government stronger, this year’s recipients exemplify the work being done every day to improve the quality of life for West Virginians.”

The following awards were presented during the Annual Conference Awards Dinner:

All-Star Community Awards – Cost Savings 

City of Lewisburg – Innovative funding strategy for its new water treatment plant through strategic partnerships and grant funding
