Concord holds off Frostburg State for 2-1 win

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men’s soccer team slipped by Frostburg State, 2-1, in a Mountain East Conference game at Callaghan Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
Concord (7-1-2, 6-1 MEC) started on the front foot before squashing a late Frostburg State (5-2-3, 3-2-1 MEC) rally to run its unbeaten streak to seven games.
The Mountain Lions got off to a rapid start, scoring first in the fourth minute. Freshman midfielder Josiah Ochoa headed the first goal just over the line to put Concord in front. Junior defender Neko Worthy racked up his fourth assist of the season after delivering a pinpoint free kick from inside 30 yards. For Ochoa, it was his third goal of the fall.

Concord owned the first half as it only allowed three shots (one goal) by FSU.
Frostburg State looked like a new team a new team after halftime as the Bobcats took nine of their 12 shots for the game after halftime, breaking through in the 58th minute to slice the Mountain Lion lead in half.
CU survived a barrage at the end by Frostburg State in the final 10 minutes as it blocked three shots, including graduate midfielder Raheem Baptiste and Leibowitz stepping in front of the potential game-tying goal.
Ochoa and junior forward Stephane Shongo combined for six of the eight shots for the Mountain Lions as the duo took three each.
Junior goalkeeper Iori Tanaka made three saves as he had his consecutive minutes scoreless streak snapped at 374.
