Best local coffee spots in the Greenbrier Valley

By RealWV Staff

With the arrival of a certain national coffee chain in Lewisburg beside Interstate 64, there’s been a lot of chatter about its effects on local coffee spots. For decades, the Greenbrier Valley has been host to a number of terrific coffee shops. Here are some of our current favorites for locals and travelers alike. Give them a try the next time your coffee urge hits.

Stardust Café, Lewisburg

Consistently featured in travel publications as one of the valley’s top restaurants, Stardust Cafe is known for their food. But don’t sleep on their coffee! It’s a perfect pairing with their homemade desserts and unique meals. They also serve beer, wine, and liquor. For more info, visit: https://www.stardustcafewv.com/.

Tootsie’s Place, White Sulphur

While Tootsie’s is primarily known as a bakery with some of the best homemade cookies, cheesecakes, and muffins you’ll ever find, it’s also a ridiculously good coffee shop. And hey, that’s a bonus to stop in for good coffee and get good food too, right? For more info, visit: https://www.tootsiesplacewv.com/.

The Hub Cafe, Lewisburg

Located in the old Lewisburg Elementary School, now Lee Street Studios, the Hub is a hidden gem you need to check out. They have coffee, smoothies, and food. They are a non-profit under the umbrella of High Rocks, an organization dedicated to educating, empowering, and inspiring young people. They live that mission at the Hub, where the food is prepared and served by young people. For more info, visit: https://www.facebook.com/thehubstudentcafe.

The General Lewis Inn, Lewisburg

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Lewisburg with the best coffee in the lobby in the morning, The General Lewis is your go-to spot. They carry Counter Culture Coffee, one of top-ranked roasters in the world. And you won’t find a more stately environment for a smooth cup of coffee than their amazing restaurant and bar. For more info, visit: https://www.generallewisinn.com/.

Manic Espresso, Fairlea & Rainelle

Manic is the new kid on the block that all the locals love. They currently have two drive-thru locations–one in Fairlea on the grounds of the WV State Fair and one just outside Rainelle (though it’s set to close soon). Their flavored coffees are a treat visually and to your taste buds. Plus, they pride themselves on providing friendly customer service. For more info, visit: https://manic-espresso.square.site/.

The Wild Bean, Lewisburg

The OG. It’s been around for decades under various owners, but one thing has remained constant–best local coffee shop. Period. It feels like you’re on an episode of Friends sitting at Central Perk, and it has ever since the 1990s. The Wild Bean has kept its cool. Roger Dolan and his crew know what they’re doing from coffee to unique food options to community events. Don’t forget about their sister restaurant, Thunderbird Taco, located next door in an adjoining space. For more info, visit: https://www.thewildbrew.com/.

Mountain Folk Coffee

And last but certainly not least, we wanted to give a shout out to our awesome local roaster, Mountain Folk Coffee. They roast right here in the Greenbrier Valley, supplying coffee to places like The Wild Bean, The Otter Shop in Hinton, Linwood Market in Pocahontas County, and Taste of Heaven Bakery in Maxwelton. You can also buy their coffee directly at Cornerstone IGA, Kittles Hardware, or Bella the Corner Gourmet. For more info, visit: https://www.facebook.com/mountainfolkcoffee/.
