Clifton welcomes Dr. Joseph Evans, ‘world-class preacher from WV’, for special service

The Rev. Dr. Joseph Evans returns to his hometown of Lewisburg, WV, this weekend for a special service hosted by Clifton Presbyterian Church on Jan 28 at 11am.

Dr. Evans is a graduate of Greenbrier East High School, the WV Institute of Technology, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as Pastor of First Baptist Church, Huntington, and the historic Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Washington, DC. In addition, he served as Dean of the Morehouse School of Religion Chair and is now an endowed Professor of Theology in the Public Square and the Director of the Center for Truth, Racial Healing and Restorative Justice at the Berkeley School of Theology.

“What a blessing to have a world-class preacher, from West Virginia nonetheless, lead our special service this weekend,” says Rev. Stephen Baldwin, Pastor at Clifton Presbyterian. The church hosts an annual service of Christian Unity, encouraging folks of different denominations to join together for the good of the larger church in worship.

Dr. Evans will preach the sermon at this Sunday’s service, which begins at 11am. Clifton is located on 219 North just past the airport. Visitors are warmly welcomed to hear Dr. Evans preach.

Visitors are welcome to join choir practice at 10am and bring children to Sunday School also at 10am on Sunday, January 28, before the 11am worship service. You can also livestream the service on Clifton’s Facebook page.
