CAMC plans hike/run at Kanawha State Forest
PRESS RELEASE
Join the CAMC Foundation Saturday, Sept. 21, for the 10th weCANclimb, a 2.5 mile hike/5K trail run, at Kanawha State Forest, Shelter 3.
weCANclimb celebrates the spirit of wild, wonderful West Virginia and honors the healing journey abused children make with help from caring professionals. This annual event benefits the children and families cared for at the CAMC Children’s Advocacy Center.
The CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly facility with staff that works to provide children and families professional, compassionate care to reduce the trauma often experienced by children that are victims of abuse. Rather than having a child taken from agency to agency to endure multiple interviews, the CAC model brings the system to the child for an effective, child-centered, healing process. The CAC works within a multidisciplinary model that includes child protection, law enforcement and other treatment professionals with the goal of facilitating healing for the child. Families are never charged for services at the CAC.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., the event begins at 9 a.m. For more information and to register, go to camcfoundation.org or call Robby Queen at (304) 388-9862.
