Winter storm brings up to 12 inches of snow to parts of Greenbrier County

LEWISBURG, W.Va. – Parts of West Virginia were transformed into a wonderland of snow on Tuesday, as a fast moving winter storm blanketed much of the Mountain State with significant amounts of snow.

Parts of Greenbrier County received as much as 12 inches of the white stuff, with the city of Lewisburg receiving approximately 10 inches in most neighborhoods.

Greenbrier County Schools were closed for the day on Tuesday. And, along with Pocahontas and Monroe counties, Greenbrier schools will be closed for the day again Wednesday.

Up to another inch of snow is expected overnight Tuesday, followed by up to a half inch of ice. Expect Wednesday morning travel to be difficult on most roadways.

A Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect for southeastern West Virginia until 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
