Something historic is about to be unveiled: Greenbrier County’s WV America 250 Mural Trail Project

PRESS RELEASE

West Virginia is making history as the first state in the nation to launch a statewide America250 Mural project, celebrating our rich heritage and vibrant communities through public art. As part of this landmark initiative, each of West Virginia’s 55 counties were invited to create a hand painted mural that reflects both local and national pride.

Thanks to the talent and creativity of local artists Shelby Oreolt and Lynn Quillen, with the support of a grant from the West Virginia Department of Tourism, Greenbrier County is now home to a beautiful addition to this historic project.

Located in the Greenbrier County Courthouse in Lewisburg, the mural is part of the statewide WV America 250 Mural Trail. Coordinated on behalf of the Greenbrier County Commission by the Greenbrier Historical Society, the mural will be formally unveiled in the entry foyer of the Greenbrier County Courthouse at noon on Monday, June 29, 2026.

The unveiling ceremony is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend. Until then, enjoy this sneak peek at just a few of the many details featured in this beautiful mural, which so wonderfully captures the spirit, history, and character of Greenbrier County.
