The Hanna Farmstead opens Sept 13 in Monroe County
By Stephen Baldwin, RealWV
Alex and Jade Hanna took a leap of faith a couple years ago, opening a new agritourism business just outside Lewisburg, WV.
The young couple grew up farming and saw an opportunity to welcome visitors to their farm each fall. That’s when The Hanna Farmstead was born—a small farm off Fairview Road which offered hayrides, a pumpkin patch, and a corn maze.
But the farm was leased; they wanted to own. It was a small patch of land; they had big dreams. So last year, they took an even bigger leap of faith, purchasing a larger farm in Monroe County.

“God made the opportunity to move sooner than we ever expected,” says Jade. “This gives us the ability to grow and expand.”
Last fall was their first at the new farm, and it was a resounding success. The 2024 season at the Hanna Farmstead opens this Saturday, September 13 and runs through October 27. They are open Friday-Sunday for hayrides, pumpkins, food, games, photos, flowers, movies, and corn mazes.

What’s new for 2024?
Visitors can expect all the amenities they’ve grown to love at the new location…and so much more this season.
“We’ve increased the size of our pumpkin patch from 2.5 acres to 6.5 acres,” says Alex. “We’ve got a new corn pit for kids to play in as well.”
You will also see a new store on the farm, which was two old grain binds they repurposed to house an ice cream stand and other items. Fall ice cream flavors include pumpkin pie and apple crisp.
“We also purchased a grist mill,” he shares. “We plan to do demonstrations and sell cornmeal.”
