BECKLEY, W.Va. — The United Way of Southern West Virginia opened its 16th annual ‘Wonderland of Trees’ display to the public at the Tamarack Marketplace on Nov. 8.

This year, 42 Christmas trees, decorated by local organizations, businesses, churches and more, will be on display until they are auctioned to the highest bidder on Nov. 22. Proceeds from the auction benefit the United Way.

Themes for the Christmas trees range from the whimsical; like WOAY-TV’s “A Griswold Family Christmas,” and the Corner Gas N Grill’s “Who-Ville”; to the traditional, like St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church’s “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and the Academy of Careers & Technology/Lowe’s of Beckley’s “Country Christmas”; and to the just plain fun, like Wal-Mart of Beckley’s “Have a Holly Dolly Christmas,” and the Raleigh County Girl Scouts “Game Night.”

Those who wish to view the Christmas trees may visit the Tamarack Marketplace from 9 am until 7 pm each day. There is no fee to attend. Guests also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Christmas tree.
