Allyson Wyatt

Born and raised in Oak Hill, Allyson Wyatt has spent the summer working to bring new life into her hometown. After someone posted a picture of a beautiful but empty amphitheater downtown, she suggested they try and book some bands to play shows. Before she knew it, she’d been nominated to lead the effort.

Several months later, “Groovin’ in the Hill” is in its third month. The events bring people together around food and music one Saturday per month. Allyson booked a variety of national, regional, and local musical acts that would appeal to families…and it has gone exceedingly well.

Allyson works both as a wildlife biologist and a raft guide in southern West Virginia. She has two daughters.

For her willingness to turn talk into action and begin a fun new festival for families this summer, we are proud to name Allyson Wyatt as The Real West Virginian of the Week.
