Native son Brad Paisley is back with his first new album since 2017, and it’s showcasing his home state of West Virginia.

“Sons of the Mountains” releases in full this fall. Four tracks, along with a new music video show on location in southern West Virginia, release this Friday.

Paisley plans to livestream the release on his social media in a 12pm conversation with journalist Chris William, also this Friday.

“I’m from here,” Paisley says of West Virginia. “This place shaped the way that I look at the world. I’ve seen a lot of it now, and I realize there’s nowhere more beautiful, wild, or free.”

Paisley visited southern West Virginia this past spring, and the video preview gives us a glimpse of the footage shot here on that trip, largely in Fayette County.

“Hard-working, defiant, free-spirited people,” Paisley says of West Virginians. “They came from faraway places and brought their music with ‘em. Old songs that would bounce off the rocks on the side of these river canyons.”

He hopes to continue those traditions with “Sons of the Mountains,” his 13th studio album.

Paisley has sold more than 11 million albums worldwide, won three Grammys, 14 Country Music Association awards, belongs to the Grand Ole Opry, and won Entertainer of the Year in 2010.
