Lewisburg kicks off ‘The Magic of Christmas’

By RealWV staff,

In front of a bustling crowd of several hundred people last night, Lewisburg Mayor Beverly White officially lit the city Christmas tree, kicking off the downtown holiday season!

“My prayer for you each and every day is that you are blessed,” she told the crowd. “Thank you for being here tonight.”

The city handed out hot chocolate and cookies to all attendees as children met Santa and Mrs. Claus in the green space beside the Christmas tree. Students from Greenbrier East High School’s “Second Block Rock” and the Greenbrier Valley Chorale provided music following the tree lighting.

Throughout the evening, families enjoyed carriage rides from Carola & Sons Carriage Service. Businesses kept their doors open late to welcome shoppers.

Mayor White invited residents to return for an evening Christmas parade on November 30 at 7pm. “We’ve got some special surprises in store for you!” she said.

The Lewisburg Downtown Business Association is sponsoring “The Magic of Christmas” for the next five weeks. Special events include Small Business Saturday on Nov 25, parade on Nov 30 at 7pm, First Fridays on Dec 1, Girl’s Day Out on Dec 9, and carriage rides every weekend through Christmas.
