ST. ALBANS, W.Va. – Two weeks after its release throughout Appalachia, West Virginia-native Eddie Mensore’s new film, “Hazard,” will be making its way to the Alban Arts Center in St. Albans for a limited three-show run.

Screenings begin at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, January 24 and 25, with a 2 p.m. matinee screening on Saturday. Tickets are $10 per person, online or at the door.

Set in the small mining community of Hazard, Kentucky, the film provides a visceral snapshot of Appalachian life amidst the ongoing opioid crisis.

Best known for his portrayal of Pat Garrett on the MGM+ series “Billy the Kid,” Alex Roe stars as Will, a hesitant drug dealer struggling to reunite his family, while inadvertently perpetuating their addiction. As tensions escalate within the community, Will faces a critical dilemma: succumb to his own addiction, or intervene to save his family.

Joining Roe as the on-screen mother to his character’s young son, is Sosie Bacon, as Sara. Rounding out the cast is Dave Davis in the role of John, Sara’s police officer brother and Will’s lifelong best friend.

The Alban Arts Center is located 68 Olde Main Plaza, in St. Albans. For more information, call the theater at 304-721-8896, or visit albanartscenter.com.
