CHARLESTON, W.Va. – After an epic battle which culminated in a shocking finish that many Charleston wrestling fans thought could never happen, “King of the Country Roads” Troy Parker is the new Regatta Pro Wrestling Champion.
The main event of the third annual Sternwheel Slamboree saw Champion Bishop Baylor put his 735-day title reign on the line against Parker, and Shane Kryzak. Kryzak, Baylor’s former tag team partner, was a last minute replacement for the injured Noah Ray. This is the second Regatta Pro Wrestling title win for Parker. His other title win came at the inaugural Sternwheel Slamboree, earning him the distinction of being the first to ever hold the belt.

A native of Charleston, Baylor was once the most despised villain in the indies. However, his lengthy reign saw the tough-as-nails brawler emerge as something of an ambassador for Charleston wrestling, and fans grew to reward his winning ways with cheers and adoration. After his reign came to an end on Saturday, Baylor showed Parker the respect worthy of a true warrior, by presenting him with the championship belt before raising his hand, seemingly putting an end to the pair’s long and storied rivalry.

In the afternoon’s penultimate match, WCW and ECW legend “The Franchise” Shane Douglas failed to capture the ACW Super-H Championship after a tough loss to champion Handsome Nick Hamrick, Casey King defeated Tyler Rosfield, and Zaiden Kayne successfully defended his ACW International Championship against Corey Sparks.

Regatta Women’s Champion Mika retained her title in a tough-fought bout against Sam Street, and DDTrash and Huffmanly defeated the team of George South, Jason Kincaid, and Matt Sigmon.

Regatta Pro Wrestling will be returning to Charleston’s Slack Plaza, on Friday, September 19, for “Slam Plaza 4.” For more information, visit the Regatta Pro Wrestling Facebook page.
