Jeff Shirley

Renaissance man Jeff Shirley is a familiar face in-and-around Charleston. Not only is Jeff a wizard behind the scenes of the Mountain Stage radio show, but he is also the creative force behind “Three Things: My First, My Favorite, and My Future” – a live-conversation series revealing the often unseen side of different artistry.

And as an employee of Public Broadcasting, Jeff has a keen understanding of the important work performed by WVPB – and the generational-damage that would result should this West Virginia cultural-institution be lost.

In a recent post on social media, Jeff shared, “Hey Charlestonians and surrounding citizens, the EASIEST way to show your support for Public Broadcasting this weekend is by attending Mountain Stage on Sunday. We’ve got Rhonda Vincent, Neal Francis, Otis Gibbs, Dawn Landes and China to Appalachia. Culture Center Theatre, 7 p.m. Come to the lobby for more information on other ways to help.”

For his passion for the arts, his dedication to his city and state, and for being just an all-award cool guy, we are pleased to name Jeff Shirley as the certified Real West Virginian of the Week.
