The event unofficially got going last Thursday with a combined Business After Hours and Media Preview night and ceremonial “first light,” before officially opening the 2025 holiday season on Friday.

Earlier this week, it was announced that “Light the Night” would be partnering once again with AARP West Virginia to provide additional mobility-services, thus making the spectacle more accessible for those with mobility concerns. This continues the theme of accessibility at GoMart Ballpark, which includes this past summer’s addition of a permanent sensory shed for visitors who may become overwhelmed. On Monday, the Dirty Birds also partnered with Mountaineer Food Bank to collect nearly 3,000 pounds of food for those in need, in exchange for free admission to the event.

In 2024, “Light the Night’s” more than 2.5 million individual lights attracted thousands of visitors each night from all across the country, and the world. The 2024 holiday season also saw the setting of a new single-day attendance record, with some 11,263 visitors to the ballpark.

The attraction will be from from Thanksgiving Day, through Thursday, January 1. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit dblightthenight.com.
