Noah Mullens shoots course record 63, surges to lead at WV Amateur

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV — Another former standout golfer for the Marshall Thundering Herd took the lead at the West Virginia Amateur. On Monday, that honor belonged to Christian Brand. But on Tuesday, Noah Mullens took center stage.
The Milton resident shot a course record-tying 63 on The Meadows course, propelling him to 10 under par and a three shot lead over Tanner Vest. Brand fell five shots off the pace after shooting a 2 over par 72 on Tuesday.

Scores were down across the board in the third round, with an average score of 73 across the field. Eleven golfers managed to shoot par or better, and seven golfers have a total score under par heading into the final round.
The championship will be decided Wednesday on the famed Old White course at The Greenbrier. Mullens, Vest, and Brand will tee off in the final group at 10:51am.
