Ruby Payne to visit Greenbrier educators on Tuesday
PRESS RELEASE

LEWISBURG, W.Va. – Greenbrier County Schools will host a special professional development session featuring renowned educator and author Dr. Ruby Payne on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Greenbrier County Board of Education Office, 430 Academic Drive, Lewisburg, WV.
Dr. Payne is widely recognized for her work on the Framework for Understanding Poverty, a professional development model that helps educators better understand the challenges faced by students living in poverty and develop strategies to support their academic success.
The training will provide educators with insights into the “hidden rules” and mindsets that differ across socioeconomic classes and offer practical approaches for bridging the gap between the culture of poverty and the expectations of the school environment. Participants will also explore the importance of building emotional resources and helping students develop formal language skills that support achievement in academic and professional settings.
This professional learning opportunity reflects Greenbrier County Schools’ commitment to equipping educators with research-based strategies that foster student success and create supportive learning environments for all children.
