Marshall tennis finishes play at ITA Atlantic Regional

Gumeniuk and Walker reached the quarterfinals in doubles; Walker Round of 16 in singles

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Marshall University Tennis Team closed out action at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Sunday.

Isabella Walker made a run to the Round of 16 in singles and reached the quarterfinals in doubles with partner Polina Gumeniuk.

In doubles, the duo registered back-to-back shutouts in the Rounds of 64 and 32 with 8- triumphs over Delaware State’s Cecilia Torelles Aguila/Ailyn Leon and George Mason’s Ravaka Noemie Ramanantoanina/Noelle Talarak, respectively.

Then in Round of 16, Gumeniuk and Walker picked up an 8-5 win over JMU’s Brooklyn Hoffman and Areiel Aviden before falling to Mayland’s Emma Ghiradato and Diya Challa.

In main draw singles, Walker won in straight sets over Amira Bergoui of Morgan State (6-2, 6-3) and West Virginia’s Rio Maeda (6-4, 6-3) in the Rounds of 64 and 32, respectively, before falling to Maryland’s Anastasiia Sorska in the Round of 16, 6-3, 6-3.
