Appalachian Headwaters announces Camp Waldo details for Summer 2026

LEWISBURG, WV — Waldo Day Camp is getting ready for another summer of screen-free, outdoor adventure in our wild and wonderful! This year, Waldo Day Camp is running multiple full-week day camps for Greenbrier Valley youth at Wood Thrush Park near Lewisburg. New adventures this summer include a three-day day camp for 6 – 8 year olds and a campout experience for 10 – 13 year olds. Read on below for a full schedule.
Waldo Day Camp operates from 9 AM to 4 PM at Wood Thrush Park (334 Richland Ln, Lewisburg). Early dropoff is available.
Waldo Day Camp is a program of Appalachian Headwaters, and is committed to being affordable for everyone. Camp fees are on a sliding scale based on household income, with additional financial assistance available.

WALDO DAY CAMP 2026 SESSIONS
CREATURES GREAT and SMALL: June 22 – 26, 2026 – ages 9 to 13
Mammals, birds, amphibians and insects…so many creatures to love!
Day campers will explore the wild and wonderful wildlife of our state guided by Appalachian Headwaters’ day camp team, wildlife biologist and summer interns.
WATER WATER EVERYWHERE: July 13 – 17, 2026 – ages 9 to 13
Day campers will explore how water moves in our mountains and its critical role in our habitats. We’ll learn about fish, macroinvertebrates and amphibians – and have fun with water along the way!
LITTLE EXPLORERS: July 21 – 23, 2026 – ages 6 to 8
Little Explorers day camp brings the focus on following our curiosity in the outdoors, and finding the fun in nature together!
ADVENTURES IN THE FOREST: July 27 – 31, 2026 – ages 9 to 13
Day campers will get comfortable navigating and learning from the woods — from trees to fungi to footprints of all kinds. Each camp day includes an opportunity to create and share something inspired by our adventures.
SURVIVE AND THRIVE IN THE WOODS: August 10 – 12, 2026 (second night is a campout) – ages 10 – 13
Learn to survive and thrive in the woods in this outdoor skills-focused day camp that includes a group campout on the second night (August 11), supported by our day camp team. Campout equipment is provided.
