Western Greenbrier Little League celebrates 75th anniversary

By RealWV Staff,
RAINELLE, WV — Saturday was one for the memory books, as Western Greenbrier Little League kicked off their 75th anniversary with a special ceremony.
Toby & Claudia Harris were asked to throw the ceremonial first pitch following an opening prayer, as teams were then introduced to the crowd. The WG major team played against Meadow Bridge’s major team on Saturday, along with t-ball teams from Rainelle and Rupert. Other teams began playing this week.

“Toby and Claudia are two amazing individuals who have dedicated so many years to our youth as educators, leaders, coaches, and mentors,” said Chris Hicks. “It was an honor to recognize the impact they’ve made on so many lives.”
“Thank you to the fire department for their support, everyone who helped with the parade, and all of the families who came out to celebrate,” Hicks continued. “None of this would have been possible without our board members, volunteers, parents, and coaches who made everything run smoothly.”
League officials also announced that they are working with the Marvel Center and the Rupert Fire Department to build a field in Rupert.
