Anna Knapp’s Halloween tour of horrifying horror, part four: Fear on the Farm
By Anna Knapp, RealWV
Since living in Huntington, multiple people have told me to visit Fear on the Farm, in Winfield, WV. I didn’t get the chance to walk through last year, so I made sure it was on my “haunts to visit” list for this year. I was excited to see what they had to offer after so many people telling me to visit.
Once my boyfriend and I parked, we made our way to the ticket booth. When we visited, it was National Haunted House Day, so I knew it was going to be busy. We got lucky when we got to the ticket booth because, right after we bought our tickets, we were put in line to go right in. We were read the rules, and after a short wait, our adventure began.

From the beginning, Fear on the Farm had us crawling through tubes and trying to navigate through total darkness in several areas of the haunt. This haunt is a light-touch haunt where a few of the actors touched my hair, the top of my head, and my ears. It was nothing that made me feel uncomfortable, and it was definitely a different experience from every other haunt I’ve visited. The set designs were very nice, and there was always something to look at to make you distracted from the jump scare that was coming. The actors did a great job staying in character and making sure guests got a scare or laugh. Because it was busy, a conga line formed inside the haunt, meaning the actors had to work extra hard to get a reaction out of people. This is something that happens often at haunts, but the actors inside dealt with it very well.
It took us about 30 minutes to walk

through the attraction, and after crawling through the 2nd hearse of the season, we made our way to the midway, where you have the option to play different types of games and an opportunity for some photo ops. Overall, the experience at Fear on the Farm was fun and a great way to get into the spooky spirit. I cannot wait to see the changes they make for the next season!
