Vandalia Health CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center named top W.Va. hospital for social responsibility

PRESS RELEASE

The Lown Institute has released its 2026 Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility’s Honor Roll.

The list includes 123 acute care hospitals, 37 critical access hospitals and 11 health systems delivering high-quality, high-value, equitable care, despite facing the same financial pressures as peers, and names one hospital per state as the most socially responsible.

Vandalia Health CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center was recognized as the top hospital in West Virginia for social responsibility.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of every member of the GVMC team,” said Becky Harless, Chief Administrative Officer, CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. “Every employee contributes to creating a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered environment. Their commitment to quality, teamwork and service is what allows CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center to fulfill its mission.”

To compile the Lown Index, the nonpartisan healthcare think tank assessed more than 2,700 acute care hospitals, including: traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage claims; Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services datasets on patient safety, patient experience, and hospital costs; Internal Revenue Service Form 990; and other sources.

“This recognition reinforces what our patients experience every day, that they can receive high-quality, compassionate healthcare close to home,” Harless said. “Being recognized for social responsibility reflects our commitment to providing exceptional care while ensuring patients have access to the services they need. It demonstrates that Greenbrier Valley Medical Center is focused not only on clinical excellence but also improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people we serve.”
