West Virginia Freedom Caucus celebrates Supreme Court decision upholding state law protecting women’s sports

PRESS RELEASE

Members of the West Virginia Freedom Caucus celebrated today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding West Virginia’s Save Women’s Sports Act and similar laws across the country, affirming that states have the constitutional authority to protect women’s athletics by recognizing biological sex.

“This ruling is a return to sanity and common sense,” said West Virginia Freedom Caucus Chairman S. Chris Anders.

“For years, politicians and activists tried to force Americans to ignore biological reality,” Delegate Anders pointed out.

“Today, the Supreme Court affirmed what West Virginians have known all along—girls deserve fair competition, and biological males should not compete in girls’ and women’s sports,” Delegate Anders added.

The Court’s decision in the West Virginia case, along with the companion Idaho case, confirms that states may protect the integrity of women’s athletics under both the Constitution and Title IX.

“Our Save Women’s Sports Act has been upheld, protecting fairness for female athletes,” said Senator Chris Rose.

“This is a tremendous victory for every girl who has worked hard to earn her place on the field, court, or track,” Senator Rose celebrated.

“This is a victory for common sense, fairness, and the women and girls who simply want an equal opportunity to compete,” said Freedom Caucus Secretary Henry Dillon.

“West Virginia’s law was right from the beginning, and today the Supreme Court confirmed it,” said Delegate Laura Kimble.

“This decision recognizes biological reality and restores a level playing field for female athletes,” Delegate Kimble added.

“I’m happy to see common sense is restored to the fairness in women’s sports,” said Senator Laura Wakim Chapman.

“Not only does this ruling ensure fairness, but it also ensures the safety of our girls. I applaud the decision,” Senator Chapman added.

“For too long, biological males have taken roster spots, championships, records, and scholarships that belonged to girls and women,” said Senator Craig Hart.

“Today’s decision protects future generations of female athletes,” Senator Hart stressed.

The West Virginia Freedom Caucus is calling on the Morrisey Administration to immediately and fully enforce the Save Women’s Sports Act following today’s decision.

“This is an immediate victory for every female athlete in West Virginia,” Delegate Dillon said.

“West Virginia chose to stand for truth instead of political pressure, and today the highest court in the nation affirmed that we were right,” Senator Rose said.

“No girl should ever lose her position on a team, a championship, a scholarship, or a record because adults were afraid to acknowledge basic biology,” Delegate Kimble said.

“Today’s ruling affirms a simple truth that men and women are biologically different, and those differences matter in athletics,” Delegate Kimble concluded.

“We will never stop fighting to protect our daughters, defend women’s locker rooms and showers, and ensure that women’s sports remain for women,” Anders concluded.
