Concord’s women’s triathlon releases schedule for debut season
ATHENS, W.Va. – First-year head coach Sarah Lauderdale of the Concord University women’s triathlon program has announced the schedule for the team’s first full season of competition.
The Mountain Lions have their first competition of the year September 4 at the Buccaneer Cup hosted by East Tennessee State in Johnson City, Tennessee. CU will be on the road to the Beaver County Cup September 19 hosted by Duquesne in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
The Conference Carolinas Championship will be contested in Wingate, North Carolina—just outside of Charlotte—on October 4. And the USA Triathlon East Regional Championship is in Lake Lanier, Georgia October 17. If Concord is successful at the regional competition, the NCAA National Triathlon Championship is November 8 in Tempe, Arizona.
Lauderdale, in her first year as CU’s head coach, competed as a triathlete at East Tennessee State University, and was a top-50 finisher at the NCAA Women’s Triathlon Championship in 2024.
Triathlon is considered an emerging NCAA sport and hopes to gain championship status within the next year.
