Surrounded by customers and supporters, Ben & Melodie Pester officially cut the ribbon on their new location for Primitive Goods in Ronceverte on Thursday.

“All of our products are either made locally or in the United States,” said Ben. The shop offers classes that range from making soaps, tinctures and salves, fresh meat, elderberry syrup, fire cider, herbal tea blends, cheese and yogurt making, hand sewing, pantry management, and even building a root cellar, along with other homesteading projects.
“We like to think of it as an old fashioned country store,” he added. “We have 15 local vendors now.”

Customers are encouraged to treat the store as a community space by the Pesters. A couch near the register beckons folks to sit down, sip on coffee, and converse as they shop.
Primitive Goods is located on Edgar Avenue in Ronceverte. They are open from 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Saturday.
