As term-limited current Governor Jim Justice approaches the end of his time in office, West Virginia is preparing to select it’s next chief executive.
Despite the party boasting six challengers for the nomination, the Republican primary has been a tale of four candidates: Secretary of State Mac Warner, businessman Chris Miller, former Delegate Moore Capito, and Attorney General Patrick Morrisey. The Republican primary has been both ugly and expensive, and remains a horse race to the bitter end.
The blue end of the ballot, however, has been an altogether different story, with three-term Huntington Mayor Steve Williams standing unopposed in his quest to be the Democratic nominee. Mountain Party candidate Chase Linko-Looper, a disabled combat veteran, is also unopposed.
